MacKie Farms in Hazen Nevada

Check out this orchard in the desert! This is Stuart and Susan MacKie (my parents). I am so proud of them! I am working on finding the pics from when we first started the farm. It's pretty hard to find regular printed pictures in boxes since the technology age hit.

What am I doing publishing this? Well, we are always looking for more input and resources to help us out. We believe in producing the genuin, juicy peach. In order to do this, it requires an great deal of physical work and mental strain...haha

Water conservation and proper usage is extremely important at all times. If anyone has more ideas, please share! We use a drip line system. 1/2 line with 1/4 hose to the trees. Our manifolds are flushed before each watering, but the lines require constant monitoring to make sure they are not clogged.

Soil testing is another challenge. Most companies tell you what's in the soil but not what you need. Our climate is cold and dry too. The fertilizer has got to be perfect in order to produce the proper amount of soil chemicals to give us the greatest gowth potential.

Hmmm... More weeds! Got any ideas?

There's alot of area to cover here. Over 900 trees now! Once the late spring is here, we just pray that the frost doesn't get to the blossoms. We are still in the process of ovens and smudge pots to help with that.

I'll write some more later as the year progresses!
